Economy Minister Returns from US Summit with Northern Ireland Businesses
Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald returned from Washington after leading a mission with Invest Northern Ireland and six local businesses at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Maryland. The event focused on foreign direct investment opportunities in the US.
The participating companies were O&S Doors Ltd, Smiley Monroe Ltd, Fast Technologies Ltd, EPAS Ltd, NHL Cylinders and Adepta Partners Ltd. The mission aimed to help these firms explore US sales operations, manufacturing partnerships or investment expansion.
Minister Archibald stated that the engagements allowed local companies to pursue new partnerships and growth. She noted that Northern Ireland provides innovation, skilled talent and reliable partnerships for global growth.
She highlighted the US as a key market for Northern Ireland exports and investment, with goods exports valued at £1.4bn in 2025. The market offers access to over 330 million consumers and demand in advanced manufacturing, fintech and life and health sciences.
The minister met US business and political leaders alongside Peter Burke TD. She also discussed tourism opportunities tied to the US Semiquincentennial Commission's plans for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with commission representatives.
Chris Monroe, CEO of Smiley Monroe Ltd, said the firm's US site in Kentucky since 2020 supports customer needs, builds relationships and led to a 25% rise in new Northern Ireland customers.
Moira Loughran, Head of Exports at Invest Northern Ireland, said the summit offered insights into US market entry, aiding firms in scaling exports.
