Lisburn Security Alert Ends with Controlled Explosion on Hoax Device
Police responded to reports of a suspected explosive device at a residential property on Hillview Avenue in Lisburn at around 6.50pm on Wednesday, May 6.
Ammunition Technical Officers attended the scene and conducted a controlled explosion on the item.
The device was later confirmed to be an elaborate hoax.
Around 100 residents were evacuated from their homes during the incident, with local facilities provided for them.
Local policing Inspector Roberts stated that cordons have been lifted and evacuated residents can now return to their homes.
Inspector Roberts thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the public safety operation.
Police enquiries continue and they have asked anyone with information to contact 101, quoting reference number 1483 06/05/26, or to report via the PSNI non-emergency form or Crimestoppers anonymously.
