Over 100 school governors attended a seminar organised by the Education Authority at Lagan Valley Island in Lisburn. The event ran from 9am to 3.45pm and included training sessions, updates on education matters and meetings with EA services.

Eve Bremner, EA Chief Education Officer, opened the seminar. She welcomed governors and recognised their role in school governance and support for children and young people.

Pupils from Pond Park Primary School in Lisburn performed a medley of songs at the opening. Principal Geoffrey Cherry and school staff accompanied the pupils.

Governors took part in workshops run by EA staff. A lunchtime session in Island Hall allowed direct talks with representatives from EA areas such as school governance, recruitment, health and wellbeing, attendance management, community and schools, bullying prevention, equality and human rights, shared education and sectoral support.

Representatives from CCMS and CSSC also attended the lunchtime session.
