The Education Authority NI organised the initial three Governor Networks for Chairs of Controlled schools on 24, 25 and 26 February 2026. The sessions occurred in three localities: Omagh Teachers’ Centre for South West, Magilligan Field Centre for North, and Finaghy Youth Centre for East.

Chairs connected with EA School Governance colleagues at the events. They shared experiences and held discussions on effective governance. Participants built relationships with peers from other Controlled schools in their locality.

The sessions addressed the EA Scheme of Management for Controlled schools. Chairs examined how the scheme aids governance and its use in school settings.

EA’s School Governance Service thanked all participating Chairs for their commitment to Controlled sector governance.

Further networks are scheduled regularly across the three localities. Sessions on the Scheme of Management repeat in May 2026. Additional events on other governance topics are planned for the 2026/27 year.
