Alliance Party MLA Kellie Armstrong will not seek re-election at the 2027 Northern Ireland Assembly election. The Strangford representative has served as an MLA since 2016.

Armstrong previously held councillor positions on Ards Borough Council and Ards and North Down Borough Council from 2013 to 2016. She plans to continue her MLA duties alongside colleague Nick Mathison until the Assembly dissolves.

She stated that retirement has been under consideration for some time. Armstrong intends to remain involved with the Alliance Party after stepping down.

Armstrong cited her work on the Integrated Education Bill as a career highlight. She also referenced online abuse and threats as a significant challenge.

She expressed thanks to her family for their support, as well as to colleagues, local Alliance representatives, and the party association. Armstrong additionally thanked voters for the opportunity to represent Strangford.
