North Down Runner Aids Struggling Competitor at Boston Marathon Finish
Aaron Beggs of North Down Athletic Club assisted a struggling competitor at the finish of the Boston Marathon. The 26.2-mile race had been running for almost three hours when Beggs saw Ajay Haridasse on the ground near the line.
Beggs stopped despite nearing a personal best. He tried to lift Haridasse but needed additional support. Robson De Oliveira joined to help steady Haridasse across the finish.
Spectators recorded the assistance on video. The footage has gained millions of views on social media. Beggs wore a yellow and blue North Down vest.
Beggs recorded a personal best time of 2:34:36. North Down Athletic Club posted on social media to recognize his actions.
