Martin Rafferty, a guitarist and vocalist from Armagh, completed a 27-hour, one-minute and 58-second busking marathon in August 2023. The Orchard County Band supported him during the event.

Rafferty performed despite a broken thumb. The attempt raised over £14,000 for the West Armagh Consortium's Christmas Toy Appeal targeting low-income families.

Guinness World Records provided the rules, which required continuous playing by one person and a 20-minute break after every four hours. Rafferty submitted evidence multiple times but received minimal communication after seven months.

Official World Record certified the achievement as the longest marathon busking record. Rafferty credited Liam White of Philip White Tyres for organizing and named band members Mark Bratton, Matthew Lennon, Stephen Smyth, Sarah Vallely, Eoin Kelly and Mark McCrilly.

The cross-community fundraiser drew local and national media attention.
