Hydepark Road Developments Ltd has submitted a planning application for 150 new homes at Grange Lane in Mallusk. The site lies west of Mill Bridge, south of Hydepark Manor and east of Hydepark Mews. The proposal marks the third phase of the Mill Bridge residential development.

The plans include 42 detached houses, 50 semi-detached houses, 12 townhouses, 16 two-bedroom apartments and 30 lifetime homes. Lifetime homes incorporate design criteria to meet changing needs of residents. The development features garages, landscaping, open space, a children's play area and a community pavilion.

Access to the site will come from Hydepark Road. Developers propose a bus stop and turning loop there to support potential extension of the Blackrock bus service.

The community pavilion sits on a village green area. Pedestrian links and a road connect it to the development. A management company will operate the pavilion for all residents.

House designs match local detached and semi-detached styles in form, materials, proportion and detailing. The mix aims to create visual interest. Apartment buildings frame open spaces.

The area's character includes the Ballymartin Water river, open space and buildings. A public footpath and pedestrian bridge link to Hydepark Manor.

The application has drawn 20 objections.
