Dundrum Event Shares Church Avenue Residents' Stories Through Film
Residents of Dundrum attended the 'Dundrum Voices' event on 28 March at the Creative Village Dundrum hub. The gathering focused on memories from Church Avenue.
Anna McCallum of the Dundrum Village Association organised an exhibition with a short film, drawings, maps and photographs. She presented a history of the land designated for future homes.
The film included accounts from Patsy Forsythe, who moved to 1 Church Avenue with his family in January 1952, and Lakshmi Arun, who arrived in the village three years ago from Kerala with her family.
Patsy Forsythe recalled his family's prior home as a cottage lacking facilities on the village outskirts. He described the new house as spacious and well-decorated by landlords Mr and Mrs John McKibbin from Hollybush Road.
Forsythe noted that Mrs McKibbin made curtains without charge. The McKibbins covered the family's initial rent of sixteen shillings and seven pence.
