Northern Ireland registered 337 deaths in the week ending 3 April 2026, down 25 from the prior week's total of 362. The NI Statistics and Research Agency released the data at 9.30am on 10 April 2026.
Expected deaths for the week stood at 329, resulting in a relative excess of 8 deaths. Males accounted for 181 deaths and females 156. Expected figures were 168 for males and 161 for females, yielding an excess of 13 male deaths and a deficit of 7 female deaths.
By 3 April 2026, 5,318 deaths had been registered year-to-date. Males comprised 50.8% and females 49.2%. Some 67.8% occurred in those aged 75 and over.
Of the year's deaths, 45.4% took place in hospitals, 17.7% in care homes, and 36.9% at homes, hospices, or other sites.
Deaths mentioning flu or pneumonia totalled 55 in the week, raising the 2026 count to 1,044.
Provisional deaths occurring in the week ending 3 April, including registrations up to 8 April, numbered 229.
