Northern Ireland registered 393 deaths in the week ending 27 February 2026. This marked an increase of 41 from the prior week's total of 352.
The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency released the data at 9.30am on 6 March 2026. Expected deaths for that week stood at 377 based on mortality rates and trends. Excess deaths totalled 16.
Male deaths numbered 203 against an expected 192, yielding 11 excess. Female deaths were 190 against an expected 185, yielding 5 excess.
