Castlewellan Community Space Hosts Weekly Events for All Ages
The Well operates from a building on Castlewellan’s Main Street in County Down. It provides spaces for community members of all ages and backgrounds.
Rev Pat Kerr of St Paul’s Church of Ireland supports the initiative. Lorraine Brimage and Trevor Brimage assist in its operations. The three individuals relocated from Monaghan and now participate in local activities.
Weekly events include an after-school drop-in for ages 11 to 18 on Tuesdays, called Our Place. Pupils from local secondary and grammar schools attend.
Coffee mornings run from 10am to 1pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. An informal gathering occurs at 6.30pm on Sundays for those interested in Christianity.
Additional events target men, women, young people and older residents. Rev Kerr states that the project aims to build relationships and offer support.
The space features games areas, a TV, pool table, dart boards and seating near the kitchen. Community members from various groups have attended since it opened.
