Derry City and Strabane District Council Mayor Ruairí McHugh will host an Easter Tea Dance in Castlederg on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The event runs from 2pm to 4pm at St Davog's GAC, 2 Park Road, Aghyaran.

Free transport operates from multiple district points. Pickups occur at 12:30pm from the Guildhall layby in Derry, 1pm from Strabane Town Hall car park, 1:20pm from Sion Mills bus stop, and 1:30pm from Victoria Bridge bus stop. The return bus leaves Aghyaran at 4pm.

Local musicians Hugh P and Maria Doherty provide live music. Light refreshments serve attendees.

Mayor McHugh plans to fundraise for PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland and the Castlederg Patient Comfort and Terminally Ill Fund. PIPS offers counselling and befriending to those with suicidal thoughts or mental health issues, plus support for affected families. The Castlederg fund supplies equipment, aids, and financial help to chronically or terminally ill residents cared for at home.
