Lisbellaw Wednesday Club Hosts Potato Bread Demonstration
Betty Little, secretary of the Lisbellaw Wednesday Club, led a cookery demonstration on potato bread at a recent meeting in Lisbellaw Parish Centre.
Members observed Little prepare and cook the bread on a griddle. The club meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2.30pm to 4.15pm.
Founded in May 1986, the group will mark its 40th anniversary soon. Ethel Boyle serves as current chairwoman and Audrey Stewart as treasurer.
Membership requires members to be aged 60 or older. The club formed to combat loneliness among older residents.
Activities at meetings include guest speaker talks, demonstrations, armchair exercises, crafts and armchair bowls. Stewart noted that many members look forward to tea at the end of sessions.
The group uses Lisbellaw Parish Centre, provided for their twice-monthly gatherings.
