The Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh Alderman Amanda Grehan opened a refurbished outdoor garden at Lisburn Assessment and Resource Centre. The centre supports adults with learning disabilities.

The garden includes a wheelchair accessible swing, picnic tables, flower planters and durable ground covering. Staff expect service users to use the space for relaxation, socialising and outdoor activities.

Mandy Glasgow, senior day care worker at LARC, stated that Sensability, a charity supporting centre attendees, Dairy Farm Services and Seymour Hill Horticultural Unit funded the refurbishment through their efforts.

Amanda Irvine, a support worker at LARC, said the area offers a place for quiet time with purpose-built tables, bean bags and vegetable trucks containing herbs planted by service users.

Joyce Belshaw, who attends LARC three days a week, expressed enjoyment of the garden and anticipation for using it in summer.
