South Eastern Trust Promotes Early Detection of Ovarian Cancer Symptoms
The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust is encouraging women to identify early symptoms of ovarian cancer. The campaign runs during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
Women should see their GP for ongoing bloating of the abdomen, pain or tenderness in the lower tummy area, loss of appetite or feeling full quickly after eating, and needing to pass urine more often.
Gynae Clinical Nurse Specialist Suzanne Brown stated that prompt checks on such symptoms can improve results. She advised discussing even minor or occasional signs with a GP.
Brown recommended tracking symptoms in a diary to share at GP appointments. This helps describe experiences and frequency.
Around 7,400 women receive ovarian cancer diagnoses each year across the United Kingdom.
