Rev Billy Abwa underwent ordination and joint installation as minister for Dunmurry and Kilmakee Presbyterian Churches. The congregations formed a joint charge in 2025. Both approved his appointment unanimously.

Rev Abwa originates from Jos, Nigeria. He holds a zoology degree. He pursued Christian ministry thereafter. His prior work includes HIV/AIDS education and care with local churches. He has served in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland since arriving in Northern Ireland.

Rev Abwa resides with his wife Linda, from Co Antrim, and their two children. Linda supports mission partnerships.

Vacancy Convenor Rev Steve Stockman described the event as a strong start for the new partnership between the churches.

Rev Gilbert Young, Clerk of Session for Dunmurry, expressed anticipation for collaboration and hopes that the Abwa family settles in locally.

Al White, Clerk of Session for Kilmakee Presbyterian, noted the congregation's delight after four years without a minister. He highlighted Rev Abwa's evident joy and excitement for the joint ministry's future.
