A 51-year-old man from Finvola Park in Dungiven received a sentence of 140 hours of community service at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court for benefit fraud.

Brian O’Kane claimed £7,662 in Universal Credit without declaring his employment.

The Department for Communities investigated the case and uncovered the fraud.

O’Kane must repay any outstanding amount obtained incorrectly to the Department.
