McLaughlin and Harvey Ltd has applied for a marine construction licence to perform reinforcement works on piers 7 and 8 of the Faughan railway bridge in Derry for Translink.

The project involves concrete breakout in small specified areas to expose reinforcement. A concrete repair treatment will follow, with areas then filled in. Workers will use a pontoon at high and low tides.

All activities will occur off track. Train services face no disruption.

The four-week project starts at the beginning of June.

The Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs published the public notice. Its Marine and Fisheries Division issues marine licences in Northern Ireland for deposits from the high water mean spring tide mark out to 12 nautical miles.
