Officers from the Roads Policing Unit based at Mahon Road carried out a speed detection operation on the M1 near Tamnamore. They stopped a driver travelling at 104mph.

A preliminary breath test showed the driver was almost double the legal alcohol limit. Police arrested the driver for driving with excess alcohol and other motoring offences.

The operation formed part of efforts to enforce speed limits and road safety in the area.
