Ronan Keating Learns Scone Recipe at Derry Coffee House for BBC Series
Ronan Keating visited Patricia’s Coffee House in Derry for a scone-making session. The eatery sits on the banks of the River Foyle. The visit forms part of his Wild Atlantic travelogue series.
The Derry episode airs on BBC on April 6. It concludes the five-part series tracking Keating's journey along the Wild Atlantic Way. A Derry production company, AlleycatsTV, produced the programme.
Staff at Patricia’s welcomed Keating and his team. They noted appreciation from local friends and neighbours who joined the experience.
Keating tried making and tasting the scones. He described their soft consistency as unlike any he had eaten before. He praised the passion and pride in the preparation.
Patricia responded positively to his comments.
In the episode, Keating walks Derry’s 400-year-old walls with comedian Diona Doherty. He visits a farm to learn about competitive sheep herding. He travels to Castlerock’s coastline to meet a craft worker building traditional coracle boats by hand.
The series receives co-commission from BBC NI and BBC Daytime. It has support from Northern Ireland Screen and Tourism Ireland.
