Northern Ireland Competes for Ryanair Engine Facility with 600 Jobs
Northern Ireland executives informed Stormont's economy committee that the region is in advanced discussions with Ryanair for an engine maintenance facility.
The project could create up to 600 jobs. Ryanair is also evaluating sites in Spain and eastern Europe.
Ciaran McGarrity, a senior official, told the committee the talks are at an advanced stage. Another meeting is scheduled for next week.
McGarrity described the upcoming session as a workshop to gather details needed to support the investment.
Funds from the NI Enhanced Investment Zone could support the project if it proceeds, McGarrity said.
Ryanair representatives have visited Northern Ireland multiple times to assess opportunities, including skills available from local colleges.
The airline plans to handle engine maintenance internally at two facilities starting in 2029.
