Students from South Eastern Regional College raised £1500 for Cancer Focus NI during fundraising events in Bangor earlier this month.

Sixteen first-year students on the BTEC Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services course carried out a bucket collection at ASDA and Main Street in Bangor on 4 March. The students spoke with shoppers about the charity's work and collected £847 that day.

Lecturer Irwin Pryce supervised the students during the collection.

On 6 March, fourteen students took part in a spin-a-thon at the Cancer Focus NI store on Main Street. They used two spin bikes from 9am to 3.30pm, with each student cycling for 45 minutes. The charity mascot joined the event, and the students raised £655.

Irwin Pryce stated that he felt proud of the students for having fun while contributing to the charity. He thanked the Bangor community for their donations over the two days.

First-year student Casia Galea, who joined the fundraising, said the charity supports important work and that participating helped develop skills.
