Over 10,000 Vehicles with Defective Airbags Remain on UK Roads
More than 10,000 vehicles with potentially defective airbag systems remain in use across the UK, according to the Department for Transport.
DUP East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell raised concerns after receiving confirmation in a Written Parliamentary Answer. He noted the issue has been known for over six months.
Campbell stated that several hundred of these vehicles may be in Northern Ireland. He described the number as significant and a risk to motorists and families.
The MP called public safety a priority that requires action from Stellantis, the manufacturer, and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.
He urged both organisations to improve outreach so drivers know the risks. Campbell demanded swift steps to reduce the numbers of unrectified vehicles.
