Willow Beauty, a beauty salon in Ballymena, reached its 10th anniversary this month. Gillian Matthews founded the business and opened it on 26 March 2016.

The salon launched after the Michelin factory in Ballymena closed and affected Matthews' family income. Matthews had more than 12 years of experience in other salons before starting Willow Beauty.

Over the decade, the salon built a loyal customer base and expanded its treatments. It became an exclusive stockist of premium products and formed ties with leading brands.

Willow Beauty won awards such as Ballymena Business Excellence Awards for best business premises, best young person in business, and customer service. It also received the Professional Beauty Regional Award for Northern Ireland Boutique Salon of the Year.

A small team at the salon maintains close client relationships and provides personal service. Ballymena BID and Ballymena Chamber of Commerce offered support to the business.

The salon plans an event on Thursday 26 March with cake, retail discounts, spot prizes, and a raffle. Clients and the public can attend.
