Lisburn Charity Chief Officer Paula Jennings Receives MBE for Services to People with Learning Difficulties
Paula Jennings, chief officer of Stepping Stones NI based in Lisburn, received an MBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle. The award recognises her services to people with learning difficulties in Northern Ireland.
Jennings has led Stepping Stones NI for 28 years. The charity provides services for people with disabilities and those facing barriers to learning. She has contributed to the organisation's development and supported inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
The board of Stepping Stones NI congratulated Jennings. They described her as an advocate and champion for Northern Ireland's disability sector.
Jennings stated that receiving the MBE was a privilege and honour. Prince William asked her about Stepping Stones NI and funding challenges during the ceremony. She attended with her husband and three daughters on a sunny day.
Jennings said the award represents Stepping Stones NI, the disability sector in Northern Ireland, the people supported by the charity, staff, and board.
