Police in Northern Ireland plan to close a section of the Foreglen Road in Dungiven, County Londonderry, tonight for tests related to the death of Patrick Flanagan.

The closure affects the stretch between Feeny Road and Dernaflaw Road from 7pm to 10pm. Diversions will operate, and local residents can access their homes.

Flanagan, a man in his 60s from Derry, suffered serious injuries on the road between Claudy and Dungiven in the early hours of 2 November 2025. He died in hospital.

Detective Inspector Connolly of the Criminal Investigation Department stated that investigators believe Flanagan was hit by a vehicle that failed to stop.

Police seek witnesses present in the area between 1am and 2am on that date. They also request dash-cam or other footage from the location.
