The Northern Ireland Housing Executive organised two meet-the-employer events to promote career opportunities to communities underrepresented in its workforce, particularly Protestants.

East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell welcomed the initiative. The first event took place in the Caw/Nelson Drive area of Londonderry. A second event occurred in Coleraine.

Campbell noted he has raised concerns about the Housing Executive workforce composition since the 1980s. He pointed to historical underrepresentation of Protestants in the organisation set up to manage housing.

Local community groups supported the events. The Londonderry session included a presentation on entry-level apprenticeships and other roles.

Following the Londonderry event, Campbell reported strong attendance, mainly from local young people interested in job pathways.

Campbell stated the turnout showed community engagement with available opportunities. He called the event a positive step but stressed that sustained outreach and fair recruitment practices are needed to correct long-term imbalances.
