Fr Oliver O'Reilly, a priest in the Diocese of Kilmore, died on March 21, 2026, at Connolly Hospital and St Francis Hospice in Blanchardstown.

He served parishes in Killeshandra and Arva. In 2019, after the abduction and assault of Quinn Industrial Holdings executive Kevin Lunney, Fr O'Reilly addressed parishioners at Mass in Ballyconnell.

Fr O'Reilly called the attack an atrocity and stated that an organised criminal group had been active in the border area for some time. He said the group had escalated its intimidation tactics with the assault.

He noted that law-abiding residents faced threats from a small number of dangerous individuals. Businessman Sean Quinn challenged Fr O'Reilly over the remarks and said they caused harm to his family.

Fr O'Reilly's remains lay in repose at Lakelands Funeral Home in Cavan on Monday from 5.30pm to 9pm. On Tuesday, they moved to Sacred Heart Church in Arva for a 12 noon Requiem Mass, followed by burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Coronea.
