Newry Student Gains Work Experience Through Bolster Community and Playr-Fit Partnership
Bolster Community partnered with Playr-Fit to provide a six-week work experience placement for Oisín, a school-leaving age student with special educational needs from Newry. The student attended the sportswear company one day each week on Tuesdays.
Oisín worked with the graphic design team on projects that involved designing jerseys and creating ideas for social media graphics. He also produced a comic-style illustration about Playr-Fit's activities.
A Playr-Fit team member stated that Oisín brought energy to the office each Tuesday and showed creativity and enthusiasm in his projects. The team noted his growing confidence during the placement.
The office marked Oisín's birthday earlier this month with cake that he shared with staff and took home for family.
Bolster Community runs the An Droichead project with St Paul’s to connect schools, students, and employers. The initiative seeks work experience for young people transitioning from school.
Playr-Fit team members reported benefits to their workplace from Oisín's involvement. Bolster Community urges other businesses to offer similar placements.
