Irvine Welsh to Appear at Derry Literature Festival
Author Irvine Welsh will appear at The Playhouse in Derry on Saturday, April 4, at 3pm. The event is an in-conversation session as part of the All Kinds of Everything festival, running from April 2 to April 5.
The festival includes concerts, film screenings, studio collaborations and discussions. Venues hosting events are the Guildhall, Nerve Centre, The Playhouse, Sandinos, Guildhall Taphouse and Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.
Welsh published his debut novel Trainspotting in 1993. The book was adapted into a film released in 1996, directed by Danny Boyle. The cast included Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald.
A sequel novel titled Porno led to the film T2 Trainspotting. The original cast reunited for that production. The 1996 film marks its 30th anniversary in 2026.
