Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has increased patrols and monitoring at Larne Memorial Gardens and Greenland Cemetery. The action follows complaints about dog fouling at the sites.

Dog owners face a fixed penalty of £200 per offence. Failure to pay the penalty can lead to a court fine of up to £2,500.

The council requires all dog owners and walkers to act responsibly in communities. People visit the gardens and cemetery to pay respects to loved ones and the fallen.

Council members stated that failing to clean up after dogs is unacceptable at these locations. They called for civic pride to keep Mid and East Antrim clean and respectful.
