Tyrone Priest Fr PJ Gormley Dies After Missionary Service in Zambia
Father PJ Gormley, a priest from Augher in Tyrone, has died. He served in missionary work in Zambia and other locations. He belonged to the SMA community and the Clogher Diocese.
Pat Cullen MP expressed sadness at his passing. She called him a proud Augher man who kept his Tyrone roots despite travelling for missionary duties. She said he leaves a legacy of faith, service, and community ties. She offered sympathies to his family, friends, and the Augher and Clogher communities.
His funeral notice states he is missed by his family, the SMA community, priests of Clogher Diocese, parishioners in Zambia, and friends.
The funeral mass is scheduled for 12 noon on Monday, March 16, at Saint Macartan’s Church in Augher, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
He will lie in state at the church from 3pm to 9pm on Saturday and from 12.30pm to 9pm on Sunday.
