Total sales in Northern Ireland reached £109.3 billion in 2024, up 7.5% from 2023. The figure marks a survey record high.

External sales by companies increased by 14.4% to £39.8 billion. Exports grew by 14.5% to £19.6 billion. These gains follow 2023 increases of 20.8% in external sales and 26.6% in exports.

Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald stated that the statistics show a strong trading performance. She commended businesses for their innovative and export-focused efforts in a volatile global environment.

Northern Ireland recorded trade surpluses with major partners. The surplus with Britain stood at £3.8 billion, with Ireland at £6.4 billion, Rest of Europe at £0.9 billion, and Rest of World at £1.1 billion.

Dr Archibald said she will continue to promote Northern Ireland's dual market access under the Windsor Framework. This access allows sales to both the EU and Britain without checks or trade barriers.
