Northern Ireland Economic Output Rises 1.6% in Latest Figures
Northern Ireland's economic output increased by 1.6% over the year, according to the latest Northern Ireland Composite Economic Index published by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency.
The figures show growth higher than the 1% recorded for the UK. Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald welcomed the statistics.
She noted that the data follow HMRC trade statistics from 19 March 2026, which recorded a 1.1% rise in Northern Ireland's goods exports for 2025 compared to 2024. Exports to the EU grew by 4.3% over the same period.
The index covers the fourth quarter of 2025, from October to December. It combines data from the Index of Services, Index of Production, Quarterly Construction Enquiry, public sector employee jobs from the Quarterly Employment Survey, and agricultural output from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
Weights for the components come from Office for National Statistics regional accounts gross value added data. Estimates rely on business surveys and may be revised with additional information.
