Man Arrested After Arson Fire at Moneymore Home
Detectives in Northern Ireland are investigating a fire at a residential property in Rockview Park, Moneymore, that occurred on Thursday, 12 March. Police treat the incident as deliberate ignition.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and police responded shortly before 2pm after reports of the blaze. A man and a child were inside the property at the time.
The child sustained no injuries. The man received hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Neighbouring residents were evacuated as a precaution while fire crews extinguished the flames.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody assisting with enquiries.
Detective Inspector Ryan stated that officers attended with fire service colleagues, who put out the fire. He confirmed the man and child were present inside, with the child uninjured and the man hospitalised for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Ryan noted neighbouring residents were evacuated and appealed for information, quoting reference number 876 of 12/03/26.
