Police Urge No E-Scooters at Vigil for Boy Killed in Shankill Road Crash
Police in Belfast have asked young people not to bring e-scooters or scramblers to a vigil for 11-year-old Mason Keilhauer. The boy died in a road traffic collision with a grey BMW X5 near the junction with Boundary Street on the Shankill Road on Saturday evening.
A vigil with a balloon release is scheduled at Mason's home on Thursday night. His funeral is set for Monday.
Officers noted calls for young people to attend the vigil and funeral on e-scooters and scramblers. They expressed concerns over safety on a busy road.
Mason's family has requested that young people do not arrive on such vehicles.
Chief Inspector Patrick Mullan stated that while the community wants to support the family, young people should respect the family's wishes and avoid using e-scooters or scramblers at the events.
