Child hospitalised after e-scooter collision in West Belfast
A four-year-old child was taken to hospital following a collision with an e-scooter on Twinbrook Road in West Belfast.
Police received a report of the incident at approximately 3pm on Tuesday 26 May. Officers attended with other emergency services, and the child received hospital treatment for injuries.
Inquiries remain ongoing. Police in Dunmurry appealed for witnesses and anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell or other footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference 1120 26/05/26.
West Belfast MLA Danny Baker stated that accidents involving e-scooters occur daily, with children most often affected. He noted that e-scooters, along with e-bikes and scramblers, are illegal on roads and footpaths.
Baker called on parents and the community to consider the risks before further harm occurs. He said some devices are powerful enough to cause serious injury.
Police confirmed the collision involved an e-scooter and a pedestrian.
