Ballymena Squash Club Named Ulster Club of the Year 2025 After Two Years
Ballymena Squash Club received the Ulster Squash Club of the Year 2025 award. The club formed in January 2024. Mark McKane, Ben McKane and Daniel McKane accepted the award at Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club. The presentation occurred during Squash Ireland's National Masters tournament on 27 and 28 February 2026.
Mark McKane earned Squash Ireland Volunteer of the Year 2024. The club attracted 44 registered members in its first year. It runs regular club nights, box leagues and championships.
The club provides youth taster sessions in Ballymena, including with 3rd Ballymena West Church Cubs and Scouts. Niall Jackman, Ulster Squash Club Development Officer, stated the award recognises the club's growth and revival of squash in Ballymena.
Ballymena teams compete in regional leagues. In South & East League Division 2, the team faced Queen's University Belfast on 24 February and earned six points to reach fifth place.
In North & West League, Ballymena secured second place after a match against Foyle Squash at Brooke Park on 5 March. The club supports the Free Court 3 campaign for refurbishing facilities at Seven Towers Leisure Centre.
