Craigavon Magistrates Court withdrew a sexual assault charge against Dean Martin, 30, from Wood Lane in Lurgan. The accusation related to an incident on November 18 of last year.

A prosecutor informed the court of a no-prosecution decision, allowing the matter to be dropped. The case had been active since November 22 of last year.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan noted the duration and charge severity when granting legal aid to defence barrister David McKeown.

The previous week, the judge required a DNA forensic report within days. McKeown contested conflicting details on identification via video parade, stating his client was not identified and DNA evidence was absent.

Judge Ranaghan confirmed DNA existed but was not connected to Martin.
