Sinn Féin councillor Brian Harte has welcomed actions by Radius Housing to address conditions at Colman Fold on Melmount Road in Strabane. The site provides apartment accommodation for people over 55 seeking independent living with round-the-clock support.

In April, residents contacted Harte about the facility's state. Harte met with them to hear their concerns on potential improvements.

Harte arranged discussions with Radius Housing. In June, senior managers from the housing association, Harte, and Maolíosa McHugh MLA met residents, who raised points for enhancement.

After further contact and advocacy by Harte, Radius Housing renovated the common room, which residents viewed as needing refreshment for relaxation and socialising. That work is now finished.

Harte requested a complete refurbishment of the building. Radius Housing confirmed maintenance for the 2026/27 financial year.

Harte visited recently to view the improved common room and speak with residents.
