Rowing crews from schools, universities and senior clubs across the island will compete on Lough Erne in Fermanagh on Saturday. The Head of the River event features 57 men's crews and 38 women's crews over a four-mile course. The race starts at the top of the Killyhevlin straight, follows the river past the town, passes through the west bridges and finishes opposite the Enniskillen Royal Boat Club clubhouse.

Women's crews begin leaving the boathouse around 10am for an 11am start. Men's crews follow the same process for a 2pm start. Each crew races against the clock for the fastest time in its category. Enniskillen Royal Boat Club will enter six crews in the men's race and seven in the women's race, including three crews of junior rowers aged 14 and under.

The club plans 23 launch boats along the course for safety. Volunteers supply their time and boats for this coverage. Weather forecasts predict light winds and minimal river flow for suitable conditions.

Viewing spots include Killyhevlin Jetty, Forum Towpath, Stuart’s Carpark jetty, the Bridges and Round ‘O’ jetty. The event began in 1957 with four crews.
