The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, presented certificates to council staff members who reached milestones in Irish language learning. The presentations took place during this year's Irish Language Week.

Staff participated in the Fáinne scheme through council language classes. They received accreditations including Cúpla Focal, Silver Fáinne, and Gold Fáinne awards.

Cllr McHugh praised the staff's dedication and enthusiasm for the Irish language. He noted the high level of interest and commitment shown by participants.

The mayor congratulated all staff who achieved certificates. He expressed support for their continued efforts in learning and promoting the language.
