Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard met Sports Council CEO Richard Archibald to discuss reopening the Tollymore Outdoor Centre in Bryansford.

Hazzard stated the centre's reopening ranks as a priority for his party. He called for a sustainable model that supports the outdoor recreation sector and the local community.

The MP highlighted the centre's location in the Mournes and its potential integration with nearby tourism developments. He emphasised preserving mountain leadership and safety training as a vital public service focused on life-saving skills, beyond profit considerations.

Sinn Féin plans further engagement with reviewers of the centre and the recreation sector. A public consultation will begin soon to gather community input on the centre's future.
