NI Water will start sewer relining works in the Solitude Park area of Banbridge on Monday, March 16. The project will last about 10 days.

The initiative seeks to reinforce the local sewer system and lower the chance of flooding outside sewers. Crews will use existing manholes and avoid major digging.

Solitude Park will stay open during the works. Path diversions will guide visitors around active sites.

Traffic controls will apply on Rathfriland Street from 9:30am to 4:30pm each day. These measures will allow safe placement of machinery, including large tankers. Controls will lift at 4:30pm daily.

Property access will continue, though brief delays might occur. Pedestrians can use Rathfriland Street and the park. NI Water Senior Project Manager Robert McLean noted that the upgrades will cut blockages and safeguard the environment from flooding.

McLean added that the public should heed diversion signs and watch for work vehicles in mid to late March. NI Water, along with AECOM and GEDA, appreciates patience from residents, businesses, park visitors and drivers.
