NI Water will begin essential maintenance on the playpark at Silent Valley Mountain Park within the next two weeks. The work is set to finish by Friday 3rd April 2026, depending on weather.

Previous heavy rainfall saturated the ground and made it unsafe for machinery, delaying the start. Conditions have now improved enough for operations to proceed.

The repairs aim to keep the playpark safe for visitors. The site's cafe, education centre and Mourne shuttle bus will stay open during the work.

Most trails remain accessible, but the heritage trail is partly closed due to storm damage. Visitors must follow on-site signage.

NI Water Facilities Manager Paul Lenzi stated that maintenance will resume when conditions allow safe machinery access. He advised checking NI Water social media for playpark reopening updates and thanked the public for their patience.
