Councillor Ruairí McHugh, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, held a civic reception at the Guildhall to mark fundraising by the family and friends of Castlederg resident Conor Browne.

Browne died at age 28 after an attack outside a bar in Castlederg in September 2023.

Family and friends ran Conor’s Tractor and Truck Run, which collected £80,000 in its first year for Air Ambulance and Revive.

A second run raised £90,000 for the Castlederg/Aghyaran First Responders Group.

McHugh called the totals notable and noted participation from people across Castlederg and further afield, regardless of background, to recall Browne.

He commended Browne's friends for maturity and leadership, and thanked local businesses, volunteers and sponsors for support.

McHugh gave the Browne family a crystal plaque to recognise the continuing community efforts linked to Browne.
