Student representatives from Killard School, Clifton School, St Columbanus College, Bangor Academy and Movilla High School attended an engagement event at City Hall in Bangor. The Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council, Councillor Gillian McCollum, hosted the gathering.

Participants shared their Student Council experiences and discussed ways young people can influence communities. Inside the Council Chamber, they took part in a debate on requiring school uniforms. The vote resulted in 13 in favour, 16 against and two abstentions.

A Question Time session with the mayor followed the debate. Students then joined breakout activities that involved wearing the mayoral robes, posing for photos with the mayor and examining the chamber's history.

Councillor McCollum described the students as confident and curious. She noted the event's value in enabling young people to engage in civic matters and contribute to the borough's future.
