NFC Kesh Advances to Craig Stanfield Junior Cup Semi-Finals
NFC Kesh from north Fermanagh won 2-0 against Ards Reserves in the Craig Stanfield Irish Junior Cup quarter-final on Saturday. The victory sends the club into the semi-finals.
Jordan McClure scored the opening goal in the 35th minute. Ryan Campbell passed the ball to Caolan Ward, whose shot struck the post. McClure finished the rebound. Danny Wilson added the second goal with a header from a Ward free kick before half-time.
Ards Reserves played with 10 men for most of the second half after a player received a red card for a heavy challenge. NFC Kesh held most of the possession from that point.
Ards Reserves created chances early on. Stefan McCusker turned a header over the bar and stopped another shot. Campbell's free kick forced a save. McClure had an effort from outside the box saved.
Player-manager Ryan Campbell said the team took time to settle but scored when it mattered. He said the dismissal changed the match. Campbell stated the squad can progress further with luck.
