NFC Kesh Advances in Junior Cup, to Face Enniskillen Rangers in Third Round
NFC Kesh from County Fermanagh won their Irish Junior Cup second-round tie against Ballyclare Comrades Under-21s with a score of 4-2 at Dixon Park on Saturday, securing their place in the next round.
The visitors took the lead before half-time. Player-manager Ryan Campbell set up Aaron Ellis, whose curling shot found the bottom-left corner.
Ballyclare equalised around the hour mark after the interval, but Kesh quickly regained the lead. Ellis provided the pass for Campbell, who rounded the goalkeeper and scored.
Scott Wallace added a third goal for Kesh with a powerful strike into the top-left corner.
Ballyclare's Mark Norris reduced the deficit to 3-2 with about 15 minutes remaining, but Daniel Wilson completed the scoring for Kesh seven minutes from time, converting from a corner with his left foot.
Campbell said his team was not at 100 percent in the first half but showed intensity in the second. He noted that under-21 teams bring energy in cup competitions, but his side scored at important moments and was happy to be in the draw.
Kesh will next play Enniskillen Rangers at home in the third round of the Junior Cup.
